For users in manufacturing who are utilizing the Works module of Megaventory, we’re pleased to highlight the ability to import Bills of Materials using an Excel template. This Bill of Material Software feature streamlines the process of adding and managing BOMs, saving time and reducing manual entry.
Add a New Bill of Material
If you want to add a new bill of materials, go to “Production” and click on “New Bill of Materials.” By clicking on “Add Product,” you can create your material bills. Under “View Bills of Materials,” you can then see all the bills that you have created.
When you view the bills of material, you will see your products and the relevant information like this:
Import of Bills and Materials from Excel
Note that the Bill of Materials import tool may be used both for inserting new Bills of Materials and for updating existing Bills of Materials. However, a BOM update is possible when certain conditions are met; for example, when no Work Order exists for the Finished Good SKU of which we intend to update its BOM.
Go to the “Data Import” and then select “Bill of Materials.” Click on the Excel file and fill out your information. When you have done that, click on “Continue” below to upload your information.
In Summary
You can either add the Bill of Materials directly within Megaventory or import it from Excel using our Bill of Material Software—whichever works best for you. We hope you enjoy the feature, and please send us your feedback and suggestions for improvement.
